A sustainable, safer, and super durable bioadhesive.

McGill researchers have developed a super-strong bioadhesive medical glue made from environmentally friendly marine waste.

The glue material can close wounds and adhere medical treatments to skin, supporting everything from wound care and surgeries to wearable devices and medical implants.

“Many existing bioadhesive products are based on toxic compounds, while overall, there is a need to explore new materials that demonstrate both high adhesion and strong fatigue resistance, or the ability to hold even if pulled apart repeatedly."

— Dr. Audrey Moores, McGill University, Department of Chemistry Professor
