KPMG: Canada Must Boost Investments in AI Training and Governance

A new global study from KPMG and the University of Melbourne shows that many Canadians lack AI trust and are unsure how it works, contributing to low trust and missed opportunities.


Although 70% of Canadians surveyed reported believing in AI's potential, Canada appears to be falling behind in AI literacy, ranking near the bottom globally in terms of training and understanding of artificial intelligence.


A new global study from KPMG and the University of Melbourne shows that many Canadians lack confidence using AI and are unsure how it works, contributing to low trust and missed opportunities.


Despite concerns about cybersecurity, misinformation, and job disruption, most Canadians see potential in AI and want stronger oversight, better education, and clear standards. With only 24% of individuals receiving AI training, experts say that focused investment in AI literacy is key to unlocking its benefits.
