New program accelerates path from high school to medical school, helping address the national family doctor shortage.

The University of Waterloo and St. George’s University have launched a first-of-its-kind program in Canada that offers a direct, accelerated path from high school to medical school, helping address the national shortage of family doctors.
Through new 5 and 6-Year MD Tracks, Canadian students can earn a Bachelor of Medical Sciences at Waterloo and move seamlessly into SGU’s School of Medicine, with guaranteed entry and no MCAT required.
“The first of its kind in Canada, this program is a creative solution to help solve our country’s overwhelming need for more doctors and to keep up with population growth.... With many SGU alumni already practicing in Canada, there is a clear path for graduates of this new program to return home after their studies to provide needed medical care for Canadians.”
