Western University Unveils New Mission Control Facility to Support Future Space Research

The facility will enable autonomous satellite missions (like tracking migratory birds) and will support complex interdisciplinary and training projects. It features a ground station connected to a rooftop satellite dish, secure connectivity, AV tools such as a 360° Meeting Owl camera, a modular workspace. It is licensed to operate independently of CSA/NASA.

“The commissioning of the new Mission Control Facility provides a unique and flexible space for mission conception, design and operations… This new facility allows us to level up our research and positions us for new and ambitious partnerships.”

— Dr. Sarah Gallagher, Professor & Director, Western Space
